José Álvaro Osorio Balvin decided he wanted to be a singer when he was just 14, and moved to the USA when he was 17 to make that dream a reality. After studying English and music in New York City, he took his talents to the stage, performing at various clubs in his home town of Medellín, Colombia.
After dropping his debut mixtape in 2012, J Balvin became a household name on the reggaeton (a mix of Spanish rapping and singing, inspired by Latin, hip hop and Caribbean music) scene. He made his name appearing on Spanish remixes of Justin Bieber's 'Sorry', Ariana Grande's 'Problem' and Maroon 5's 'Maps' before going on to release 2 more albums as a solo artist, with the most recent, 'Energia', going 4x platinum in America!
2017 has already been huge for the latino star; his latest single, 'Mi Gente', is tearing up the charts in every corner of the globe, he featured alongside Pitbull and Camila Cabello on the Fast & Furious 8 soundtrack and he's currently travelling the world on 66-date his 'Energia' world tour!
